Dr. Surjit Tarafdar works as a general physician and nephrologist at the Blacktown and Mt Druitt Hospital in Western Sydney. He is also a conjoint senior lecturer in Medicine at the University of Western Sydney.

Surjit is the founder of the annual 2-day nephrology revision programme for Basic Physician Trainees called ‘Revise Nephrology’, which has been running successfully in Sydney since 2015. In 2020, the event was attended by over 200 doctors. He identified the need for a platform for General Physicians and trainees to revise and update their knowledge; this led to the first ‘Australia and New Zealand General Medicine Update (ANZGMU) in 2019. The 2021 ANZGMU was held in a hybrid format with an attendance of 240 and received an excellent feedback.

Surjit edited ‘Lecture Notes in Nephrology- A Comprehensive Guide to Renal Medicine’ published by Wiley Blackwell in Feb 2020.This book has twenty chapters covering general nephrology, dialysis and transplantation along with chapter wise MCQS.

Besides winning multiple teaching awards, Dr. Tarafdar was voted the ‘Blacktown and Mt Druitt Consultant of the Year’ for 2019.
